After World Poetry Day on 21st March, we are pleased to shine a light on the enduring power of poetry to connect, inspire, and transcend artistic boundaries. This year, we are proud to highlight Versopolis – European Poetry Platform, a dynamic European network dedicated to supporting and promoting emerging poets.

Founded to amplify new literary voices, Versopolis works with festivals, publishers, and cultural institutions across Europe to offer poets opportunities for international visibility, translation, and professional development. By curating performances, publications, and cross-border exchanges, the platform creates a vibrant ecosystem where poetry can circulate beyond linguistic and national borders. Over the past decade, Versopolis has supported hundreds of poets, enabling their work to travel across languages, stages, and audiences, and shaping a new generation of European literary voices.

We celebrate poetry not only as a literary form, but as a living, shared practice, one that continues to evolve through dialogue, circulation, and encounters across Europe. In this sense, poetry becomes not only a form of expression, but also a way of engaging audiences more deeply, inviting them to listen, reflect, and connect across disciplines.

Building on this shared vision, FEDORA and Versopolis are joining forces in a new collaborative initiative.

Versopolis and FEDORA - A poetic reflection on opera and dance through the lens of artists' well-being

Starting in 2026, Versopolis and FEDORA will build bridges between emerging poets and the artistic projects supported by the FEDORA Prizes Biennale. For each selected premiere, a poet will be invited to attend, observe, and engage with the artistic process, creating an original poetic response that reflects both the performance and its human context.

The collaboration between FEDORA and Versopolis brings together two vital strands of Europe’s cultural landscape - performing arts and contemporary poetry - to create a new, interdisciplinary dialogue rooted in artistic experience, well-being, and shared storytelling. By inviting poets to immerse themselves in the premieres of FEDORA Prize-winning productions, this initiative captures the ephemeral essence of live performance and transforms it into lasting poetic expression.

At its core, the project bridges artistic disciplines and geographies, fostering meaningful exchange between creators from different sectors across Europe. It offers poets a unique vantage point into the emotional, creative, and human dimensions of opera and dance, while giving performing artists a reflective space through language and dialogue. In doing so, it highlights the importance of artistic well-being and the role of cultural institutions in supporting sustainable creative practices.

Through poems, conversations, and podcast episodes, the initiative extends the life of a fleeting artistic moment, preserving its resonance beyond the stage and making it accessible to wider and more diverse audiences. This approach not only enriches the narrative around FEDORA Prize-winning works but also amplifies the voices of contemporary European poets within an international cultural context.

Ultimately, this collaboration embodies a forward-looking European vision: one that values cross-disciplinary exchange, nurtures creativity, and foregrounds the human experience at the heart of artistic production. By transforming live performance into poetic memory, it invites audiences to encounter opera and dance in new ways, where reflection, emotion, and imagination continue long after the curtain falls, and where poetry becomes a space in which art can be felt, reconsidered, and shared anew.
